About Me

Hi, I’m Jake — a software engineer with a strong foundation in full stack development, data structures, and applied machine learning. I graduated from Washington State University Vancouver with a degree in Computer Science, and I’ve been building cool things ever since.

Most recently, I’ve worked as a contractor developing a full stack search application for a client in the technical communication space. The project involved designing custom search algorithms with Apache Lucene, building a Java Spring Boot backend, and integrating a sleek frontend using Quasar (Vue.js). I’ve also built Discord bots, data analysis pipelines, and various game-related tools just for fun — all of which you can find on my Projects page.

Outside of coding, I love exploring the outdoors — whether it’s hiking through local trails or spotting critters in the wild. I’ve volunteered at a nature center, where I got to engage with visitors about wildlife, conservation, and trail safety. I’ve also worked as a coding instructor for students in elementary through high school, which helped sharpen my ability to break down complex ideas in an approachable way.

I’m currently open to new opportunities where I can grow as a developer, collaborate with great teams, and contribute to building something meaningful. If you think I’d be a good fit for your team or project, feel free to reach out — I’d love to connect.
